A loss but a step forward

A loss but a step forward

He won the first fight. It took him to the finale. He faced Khampeetewada Sitthikul at 64kg. The winner got a contract to ONE Championship. And Khampeetwada won.

But for Yodkoklai it was experience. He’s only been at Fairtex for a year. He’s won more than he’s lost. He is a Thaiwasadu winner and this is more motivation for him.

“I’m fighting January 11th,” he said.

After taking on the high level Khampeetwada he’s ready for anything and anyone.

“I don't know who I will fight,” Yodkaoklai said.

But what he and the rest of the team knows, is that he will step forward.

All Done At Thai Fight

Tengneung is done with his contract at Thai Fight. The organization kept him busy. He fought kaad cheuk matches every two months. In kaad cheuk bouts the boxers wrap their hands in hemp twine. It is similar to small MMA gloves.

The former King’s Cup Tournament winner hasn’t lost in over 25 bouts. The left handed fighter is sure to be signed to ONE Championship or ONE Lumpinee soon.

He fights at 77kg. It is a division heavy with foreigners, but light with Thai boxers.

And Thailand wants to see Thais fight.

Bird Holds For Saemapetch

Former fighter Bird is now a trainer. He’s been working regularly with high level athletes.

“I like holding for Saemapetch,” Bird said. “He kicks and punches hard. Plus he has a lot of good weapons.”

Kru Bird has worked as a trainer for just a year. He’s got plenty of ring experience though.

“I fought more than 50 times,” he said.

As a young trainer, his body can sustain the impact and power of the strong fighters. So he’s looking to develop himself more.

Gasjang Cuts

Gasjang got a new fight name. It is simple. It is Gus.

The technical fighter retained her tricks and skills though. She took on Eleanor Fellows at Fairtex Fight recently.

Gus landed an elbow early. It cut Fellows badly.

“It was a really good fight. It was really fun,” Gus said.

The decision went Gus’ way. She’s been out of the ring for over a year. She had family problems that took her out of the gym.

Now Gus and Boonkerd, her brother, are back in the ring and with winning ways.

“I won and I’m happy but not too much,” Gus said. “I’m not satisfied with how I fought.”

It takes time for fighters to shake off the rust and return to form. Gus is cutting through the rust though.

On A Win Streak With Kongdech

Kongdech is moving up and up and up. He’s moved through the different stages of fight life. He was a fighter. Then when he broke his nose he was a trainer. He waited for a year to heal. Now he’s a fighter again.

“I’ve fought seven times and won,” he said.

Kongdech was a Muay Khao fighter. He marched forward and speared in powerful knees. He’s changed. Now he’s more technical. He fought in Macau for Fairtex Fight. He gained another win at Lumpinee.

“If I fight one more time,” he said. “I’ll move up.”

The next step up for him would be ONE Lumpinee.

I think we’ll see the streak continue.

Ongbak Talks Championship Win

He is the Global House Tournament winner. He fought through the competition over the past few months.

Winning meant a lot to Ongbak. It was a new chance for him.

“I’m glad and it gave me a lot of motivation,” he said. “Now I want to train better and become stronger.”

He fought once at ONE Lumpinee. He lost. Then he went into the tournament.

“Mr. Wong said one more fight at Superchamp,” Ongbak said. “I want to fight at ONE.”

His last win was hefty. He took home a 60,000 baht check. That is the starting purse size for ONE Lumpinee fighters.

Ongbak is experienced and this new run of wins is pushing him to improve.

Why Nongamm Wears Head Gear

(In this Photo: BGV1 Gloves, Fairtex HG10 Headgear)

Muay Thai injuries are varied. Breaking orbitals is common. Usually, it’s the lower side of the orbital. For Nongamm it is the interior. It is the space between the nose and the eye that broke.

It was broken in her last fight at ONE Championship. Time is healing the wound but it hasn’t fully fixed it.

So now she wears headgear when she spars. Headgear is great for preventing cuts and bruises. For Nongamm it’s a necessity.

She’s sporting the Fairtex HG10 headgear. It’s made in Thailand with genuine leather. Constructed with care the headgear’s top is open. There are loops that guide the laces. To tighten the headgear Nongamm just ties the laces a little tighter. Then the Velcro keeps it on. The fit is snug and comfortable. It comes in a variety of sizes.
